James H. Evans

I opened Evans Gallery in 1990, and it has become the longest established art gallery in the area. Evans Gallery is located in Marathon, Texas four doors east of the Gage Hotel between Front Street Books and Trans Pecos Bank. It serves to display the fine art of Mimi Litschauer, Dan Picasso and George Zupp. There is handmade jewelry by Paul Wiggins of Terlingua and my own fine art silver gelatin and digital prints.

Store hours are 10 AM to 6 PM most days, however we are sometimes inspired by the light and can be very sporatic about consistency. I rarely hang out at the gallery because I am usually working in my darkroom or the shop. If you are planning a trip it is best to call or email me ahead of time. I like to meet with people, but you may need to make some effort. The bookstore staff is very generous with us and also will open the door to the gallery for you if there is no one around. One more thing. My mate Marci Roberts works in the gallery and owns the French Company Grocery. She is usually bouncing back and forth between the two establishments. So, you can go to the store too.

Here are important numbers.
